Description

Our HP 12V Conversion box contains our POE injector and 12-56V converter inside to allow plug and play use with an aftermarket router like Peplink or GliNet (not included). This eliminates the need to use the HP router in addition to your existing aftermarket router which results in ~10% power savings not including inverter inefficiencies.

Simply connect the included 5’ SAE cable to a 12V or 24V power source (DC input range is 10-30V) and plug in your High Performance Dish’s Starlink ethernet cable into the port labeled DISH - no cable cutting or crimping required!

** Works with snowmelt! Our POE and converter are rated for 320W which is more than enough for Gen 3 snowmelt.

Power Consumption tested over 1 hour with constant upload/download internet: ~83 Wh (6A at 13.8V) - not including aftermarket router power consumption which will vary depending on your specific model.

Please select the appropriate connector for your application from the drop down: bare wire leads or ring terminals.

** We recommend using a 30A fuse on your 12V fuse block or adding an in-line fuse on the positive lead.

Installation

If connecting to a 12V fuse block, please use a 15A fuse (We recommend not lengthening the included 12V power supply cable length, but if needing to please size appropriately based on cable length and fuse size. Seek professional electrical assistance if required).

If connecting to a 24V fuse block, please use a 10A fuse

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the High Performance 12V Conversion Box do?

The High Performance 12V Conversion Box allows you to power a Starlink High Performance Dish directly from a 12V or 24V battery system while using an aftermarket router such as a Peplink or GL.iNet router.

Why would I use this instead of the High Performance router?

This setup eliminates the need to run the Starlink High Performance router alongside your aftermarket router, resulting in approximately 10% power savings, not including inverter inefficiencies.

What Starlink systems is this compatible with?

This conversion box is designed specifically for the Starlink High Performance Dish AKA Performance Gen 2.

Does this include a router?

No. An aftermarket router is required and is not included unless selected from the product options.

Can I add a router when purchasing?

Yes. You can select the optional aftermarket WiFi 6 router from the dropdown menu before adding the product to your cart.

What router is included if I select the WiFi 6 router option?

The included router is a GL.iNet AX3000 WiFi 6 router along with a 12V/24V to 5V USB-C adapter, pre-configured to work with the conversion box.

Can I use my own router?

Yes. The conversion box is designed to work with aftermarket routers such as Peplink, GL.iNet, and similar networking solutions.

Does this eliminate the need for the Starlink High Performance router?

Yes. The conversion box allows you to connect the High Performance Dish directly to your aftermarket router without using the Starlink router.

How much power can I save by eliminating the Starlink router?

Most customers see approximately 10% power savings, not including any additional savings from eliminating inverter losses.

What input voltage does the conversion box accept?

The conversion box accepts 10V-30V DC input. This makes it compatible with most 12V and 24V battery systems.

Does this include a voltage converter?

Yes. The conversion box contains a built-in 12V-56V converter required to power the High Performance Dish.

Does this include a POE injector?

Yes. The POE injector is built directly into the conversion box.

What does POE mean?

POE stands for Power over Ethernet. It allows both power and data to be delivered through a single Ethernet cable.

Can I use snow melt with this setup?

Yes. The POE injector and converter are rated for 320W, which is more than enough to support the High Performance Dish snow melt function.

How much power does the system use?

Testing showed approximately 83Wh over one hour during constant upload and download activity, or roughly 6A at 13.8V.

This does not include the power consumption of your aftermarket router.

Does aftermarket router power consumption affect these numbers?

Yes. Actual power consumption will vary depending on the router being used.

What connection types are available?

The conversion box is available with:

  • Bare wire leads
  • Ring terminals
Which connection type should I choose?
  • Bare wire leads: ideal for custom installations
  • Ring terminals: ideal for direct battery connections
What cable is included?

The conversion box includes a 5-foot SAE power cable.

How do I connect the High Performance Dish?

Simply connect the included SAE cable to a compatible 12V or 24V power source and plug the Starlink Ethernet cable from the dish into the port labeled "DISH."

No cable cutting or crimping is required.

Do I need to cut or modify my Starlink cables?

No. The system is designed to be plug-and-play and does not require cutting, crimping, or modifying any Starlink cables.

What fuse size should I use?

We recommend using a 30A fuse when connecting to a 12V fuse block or installing an inline fuse on the positive lead.

For 24V installations, use a 10A fuse.

Can I extend the power cable?

We recommend not lengthening the included power cable.

If additional length is required, the wire size should be increased appropriately based on cable length and fuse size.

Can I install this in an RV, van, boat, or off-grid system?

Yes. The conversion box is commonly used in RVs, camper vans, overlanding vehicles, marine applications, and off-grid battery systems.

Can I use this with a 12V battery?

Yes. The conversion box is designed to operate from both 12V and 24V battery systems.

Can I use this with a lithium battery system?

Yes. As long as the battery system operates within the supported 10V-30V input range.

Do I need professional installation?

Most customers can install the conversion box themselves.

However, if you're unfamiliar with DC electrical systems, fuse sizing, or battery wiring, we recommend consulting a qualified installer.

Does this come with everything needed to power the High Performance Dish?

The conversion box includes the integrated POE injector, 12V-56V converter, and SAE power cable.
