Installation

Magnetic Feet:

1. Feed bolts (blue loctite already applied) through spaces at each of the 4 feet on the TRIO Flatmount

2. Thread the screws into the magnets and tighten using the hex key supplied.

3. Slide the Starlink dish onto the TRIO Flatmount until it clicks firmly into place and make sure it is secure

4. Ensure your magnetic surface and the mounting magnets are clean and free of debris

5. Place TRIO Flatmount onto magnetic surface and make sure there is good contact. THE TRIO FLATMOUNT LOGO (AND DISH CORD) SHOULD BE POINTED TOWARDS THE BACK (TRAILING EDGE) OF YOUR VEHICLE/BOAT ETC.

**When removing from the vehicle, lift from the rear portion of the mount itself rather than using the dish as a lever.

Check hardware regularly to make sure the magnets are secured to plastic enclosure

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Rubber Coated Magnets used for?

The Rubber Coated Magnets attach your TRIO mount to a magnetic metal roof with no drilling. They come as a set of four and hold 60 lb each, 240 lb total. Stainless hardware is included. Tested up to 120 mph.

What surface do they need?

The Rubber Coated Magnets need a magnetic metal surface, such as a steel roof. Not every roof is magnetic. The Ford F-150 has used an aluminum body since 2015, so magnets will not grip it. On aluminum or fiberglass, add VHB Adhesive Magnet Mounting Discs for a semi-permanent magnetic base, or VHB Adhesive Landing Pads for a permanent install.

Will the Rubber Coated Magnets scratch my roof?

No, the Rubber Coated Magnets will not scratch your roof. The rubber coating protects your paint and resists rust while keeping a strong hold.

Can I use the Rubber Coated Magnets on a curved roof?

Yes, the Rubber Coated Magnets work on a curved roof. Pair them with Swivel Leg Adapters for full contact on curved or angled surfaces. Each magnet should sit flush and flat for a secure hold.

Have the Rubber Coated Magnets been tested at highway speeds?

Yes. Speedmounts using Rubber Coated Magnets with VHB Discs have been wind tunnel tested up to 120 mph.

Do the Rubber Coated Magnets come with mounting hardware?

Yes, the Rubber Coated Magnets include stainless steel mounting hardware in every set.

Are these replacement magnets?

Yes. These are replacement Rubber Coated Magnets for compatible TRIO mounts, including the Flatmount, Speedmount, and Mini Interior Mount.

What size are the Rubber Coated Magnets?

The Rubber Coated Magnets measure about 2.6" in diameter and 0.33" in height.

Do the Rubber Coated Magnets use threaded mounting holes?

Yes. The Rubber Coated Magnets have female threads that accept M6 mounting screws.

Can I use the Rubber Coated Magnets on boats?

Yes, the Rubber Coated Magnets work on boats with magnetic steel surfaces. For fiberglass or aluminum boats, use VHB Discs as a magnetic base, or VHB Landing Pads for a permanent install.

Do I need to clean the roof before installing the Rubber Coated Magnets?

Yes. Both the surface and the Rubber Coated Magnets should be clean and free of dirt, dust, and debris for maximum hold.

How should I remove the mount?

Lift from the rear of the mount itself. Do not use the Starlink dish as a lever.

Should I inspect the Rubber Coated Magnets periodically?

Yes. Check the hardware regularly to confirm the Rubber Coated Magnets stay securely attached to the mount.

Can I use the Rubber Coated Magnets with VHB Discs?

Yes. VHB Discs create a magnetic surface on aluminum, fiberglass, and other non-magnetic roofs, so the Rubber Coated Magnets work where they otherwise could not.

Can I leave the Rubber Coated Magnets installed long term?

Yes. Many customers use the Rubber Coated Magnets long term. Clean the magnets and surface periodically to keep maximum hold
